Do you need a feature that shakes the meeting air out of the room and brings people together across departments? With a short gospel workshop you get energy, laughter and a shared experience where everyone can join —, even those who “can't sing”. In 30–40 minutes, a completely ordinary group of employees can stand like a choir and get a noticeable feeling of: “Okay... we can actually do this together.”

Anyone can sing (most people just only notice it when they try)
I work with simple, safe techniques where the participants learn a little at a time. This makes it easy and clear. No one is exhibited, and everyone gets a role in the whole.

My style as a teacher
I teach unpretentiously and with humor — and I am used to both small teams and very large groups. On a daily basis, I work as a choir director, songwriter and workshop teacher. I have experience in both small and large groups: from 20 – 6000 participants.

What do you get out of it?
Gospel is a strong “mini-model” of good cooperation:

  • Collaboration: You only succeed when you listen and make room for each other.
  • Presence: You cannot save – you are “present” together.
  • Mod: Crossing “I can't” limit once makes the next step easier – also back at work.
  • Community: People get to move, laugh and get a common reference they bring with them for the rest of the day.

This is what it can look like in practice
There are many options and it can be customized as needed. But a few examples could be:

  • Energizer (30–40 min.)
Perfect as a start to course day, kick-off or conference. We learn 3–4 short gospel parts, and you quickly feel that it moves something in the room.
  • Team building workshop (60–90 min.)
More time to build sound, get your body involved and make small “teams” that finally bring it all together in one common performance.
  • Private party (30 min)
Should guests who may not know each other very well be shaken together? Then gospel singing is a very effective tool.

Practical
I tailor a solution that suits you!

  • Can be adapted to the number of participants, room and schedule
  • Works both as active team building and as a short, surprising feature
  • No preparation necessary for the participants

Do you want an experience that is simple, fun and unifying?

Customer cases

Here are three examples of gospel-based team building that can be scaled in both format, energy and duration – from short energizers to larger experiences.

Example 1

Energizer

Task The customer wants a good start to a training day for 300 employees.
Solution Morning song.
Duration 30–40 minutes.

Over the course of half an hour, 3–4 short gospel songs are rehearsed. The employees are divided into teams that “fight” to sing the best. In the groups, a sense of unity and a focus on collaboration quickly emerge. Later in the process, the different teams work together across departments to solve the task.

During the rehearsal, everyone stands up and both arms and legs are activated to get POWER into the song. This is a very popular solution because it is manageable in terms of time. It creates a good energy in the room and gets people laughing and singing.

Example 2

Workshop & concert surprise

Task The customer wants to surprise and challenge employees – and give them a good experience.
Solution Workshop & koncert.
Duration 1½–2 timer.

The employees arrive in buses to a church. No one knows what is going to happen. In the church they are met by the sight of, and the sound of, a swinging, beautifully singing gospel choir in full swing giving a concert.

The employees are happy, find a seat and enjoy the music... and suddenly they are asked to sing along to a little song. It's no problem... but the project takes hold - and without saying anything about workshops or team building, we are in full swing with just that! It all ends in a joint concert with the gospel choir.

Example 3

Recording as team building

Task The customer wants team building for a department of 20 employees.
Solution Recording of song.
Duration From 2 hours.

To make a recording, all the participants must know the song. Each contestant gets a small part of the song, and only when everyone knows their part can the song be recorded.

Suddenly, the normal hierarchy in the group has been turned upside down. The boss isn't necessarily the best singer – so she might need a little help. Everyone is now in the same boat – and everyone helps everyone else!

I mean that:

“ALL people are musical!

It is my job to release the musicality – to give people the opportunity to feel and experience the song and music with their whole body!

To sing in my choirs, you don't need to be able to read sheet music or know anything about singing technique.

Gospel is sung with the heart!”
